Question:
Asalamualaikum respected Mufti Sahib

I hope you are well. If a prayer hat falls on the floor, should we kiss it and say Astaghfirullah? And are we allowed to throw prayer hats around too?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

1. At the outset, the respect and honor one shows to the matters and rites of Deen is a manifestation of his taqwa. Nevertheless, if a hat falls on the floor, it should be picked up. There is no need to kiss it. If one wishes to make istighfaar, he may do so.
2. It is not clear why you would throw hats around. I am sure it does not look like a ball. If you need something for entertainment, perhaps you can purchase a ball and throw that around instead. Respect yourself by respecting things that are connected to the Deen.
