Question:
Assalamualaikum. If the left over of a person who just now drank alcohol or ate pork is najis. Can we also conclude that the left over of a person who just ate machine slaughtered meat will be najis?
Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
In principle, if an animal is killed or slaughtered in a manner other than that which has been legislated or sanctioned by the Shari’ah, then that animal will be regarded as maytah, i.e., carrion, and thus najis. The conventional method of mechanical slaughter does not satisfy the requirements of halaal slaughter. Accordingly, it is maytah and najis. If one consumes such an item and then immediately thereafter eats or drinks without cleaning his mouth, then his leftover will be impermissible as there is a possibility of contamination.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
