Living for 6 months in one place and 6 months in another

Fatwaa ID: 126

Question:

in terms of salat al musafir What’s the ruling on someone who lives 6 months in one location and 6 months in another?

Answer:

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, if one resides in any place for fifteen days or more, he will be regarded to be a muqeem. Hence, in the enquired situation, the person in reference will be muqeem in both locations[i]. He will perform his prayers in full.

And Allaah Ta’aala Knows Best.

[i] الأصل للشيباني (1/ 78)
