Making du’aa in salaah at Jannah verses

Question:
Is it permissible to make dua for Jannah and seek protection from Jahannam
When reciting Jannah and Jahannam Aayats in the Salaah?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

According to the Hanafi legal school, this is permissible during individual nafl salaahs. It should not be done in fardh salaah. If one wishes, he make du’aa in his mind only without verbalizing it.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.

(ﺑﻞ ﻳﺴﺘﻤﻊ) ﺇﺫا ﺟﻬﺮ (ﻭﻳﻨﺼﺖ) ﺇﺫا ﺃﺳﺮ «ﻟﻘﻮﻝ ﺃﺑﻲ ﻫﺮﻳﺮﺓ – ﺭﺿﻲ اﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻨﻪ – ﻛﻨﺎ ﻧﻘﺮﺃ ﺧﻠﻒ اﻹﻣﺎﻡ ﻓﻨﺰﻝ – {ﻭﺇﺫا ﻗﺮﺉ اﻟﻘﺮﺁﻥ ﻓﺎﺳﺘﻤﻌﻮا ﻟﻪ ﻭﺃﻧﺼﺘﻮا} [ اﻷﻋﺮاﻑ: 204] -» (ﻭﺇﻥ) ﻭﺻﻠﻴﺔ (ﻗﺮﺃ اﻹﻣﺎﻡ ﺁﻳﺔ ﺗﺮﻏﻴﺐ ﺃﻭ ﺗﺮﻫﻴﺐ) ﻭﻛﺬا اﻹﻣﺎﻡ ﻻ ﻳﺸﺘﻐﻞ ﺑﻐﻴﺮ اﻟﻘﺮﺁﻥ، ﻭﻣﺎ ﻭﺭﺩ ﺣﻤﻞ ﻋﻠﻰ اﻟﻨﻔﻞ ﻣﻨﻔﺮﺩا ﻛﻤﺎ ﻣﺮ (ﻛﺬا اﻟﺨﻄﺒﺔ) ﻓﻼ ﻳﺄﺗﻲ ﺑﻤﺎ ﻳﻔﻮﺕ اﻻﺳﺘﻤﺎﻉ ﻭﻟﻮ ﻛﺘﺎﺑﺔ ﺃﻭ ﺭﺩ ﺳﻼﻡ (ﻭﺇﻥ ﺻﻠﻰ اﻟﺨﻄﻴﺐ ﻋﻠﻰ اﻟﻨﺒﻲ – ﺻﻠﻰ اﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ – ﺇﻻ ﺇﺫا ﻗﺮﺃ – {ﺻﻠﻮا ﻋﻠﻴﻪ} [ اﻷﺣﺰاﺏ: 56] – ﻓﻴﺼﻠﻲ اﻟﻤﺴﺘﻤﻊ ﺳﺮا) ﺑﻨﻔﺴﻪ ﻭﻳﻨﺼﺖ ﺑﻠﺴﺎﻧﻪ ﻋﻤﻼ ﺑﺄﻣﺮﻱ – {ﺻﻠﻮا} [ اﻷﺣﺰاﺏ: 56] – {ﻭﺃﻧﺼﺘﻮا} [ اﻷﻋﺮاﻑ: 204]

(ﻗﻮﻟﻪ ﺁﻳﺔ ﺗﺮﻏﻴﺐ) ﺃﻱ ﻓﻲ ﺛﻮاﺑﻪ ﺗﻌﺎﻟﻰ ﺃﻭ ﺗﺮﻫﻴﺐ: ﺃﻱ ﺗﺨﻮﻳﻒ ﻣﻦ ﻋﻘﺎﺑﻪ ﺗﻌﺎﻟﻰ، ﻓﻼ ﻳﺴﺄﻝ اﻷﻭﻝ ﻭﻻ ﻳﺴﺘﻌﻴﺬ ﻣﻦ اﻟﺜﺎﻧﻲ. ﻗﺎﻝ ﻓﻲ اﻟﻔﺘﺢ: ﻷﻥ اﻟﻠﻪ ﺗﻌﺎﻟﻰ ﻭﻋﺪﻩ ﺑﺎﻝﺭﺣﻤﺔ ﺇﺫا اﺳﺘﻤﻊ، ﻭﻭﻋﺪﻩ ﺣﺘﻢ، ﻭﺇﺟﺎﺑﺔ ﺩﻋﺎء اﻟﻤﺘﺸﺎﻏﻞ ﻋﻨﻪ ﻏﻴﺮ ﻣﺠﺰﻭﻡ ﺑﻬﺎ (ﻗﻮﻟﻪ ﻭﻣﺎ ﻭﺭﺩ) ﺃﻱ ﻋﻦ «ﺣﺬﻳﻔﺔ – ﺭﺿﻲ اﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻨﻪ – ﺃﻧﻪ ﻗﺎﻝ ﺻﻠﻴﺖ ﻣﻊ ﺭﺳﻮﻝ اﻟﻠﻪ – ﺻﻠﻰ اﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ – ﺫاﺕ ﻟﻴﻠﺔ ﺇﻟﻰ ﺃﻥ ﻗﺎﻝ: ﻭﻣﺎ ﻣﺮ ﺑﺁﻳﺔ ﺭﺣﻤﺔ ﺇﻻ ﻭﻗﻒ ﻋﻨﺪﻫﺎ ﻓﺴﺄﻝ، ﻭﻻ ﺑﺂﻳﺔ ﻋﺬاﺏ ﺇﻻ ﻭﻗﻒ ﻋﻨﺪﻫﺎ ﻭﺗﻌﻮﺫ» ﺃﺧﺮﺟﻪ ﺃﺑﻮ ﺩاﻭﺩ ﻭﺗﻤﺎﻣﻪ ﻓﻲ اﻟﺤﻠﻴﺔ (ﻗﻮﻟﻪ ﺣﻤﻞ ﻋﻠﻰ اﻟﻨﻔﻞ ﻣﻨﻔﺮﺩا) ﺃﻓﺎﺩ ﺃﻥ ﻛﻼ ﻣﻦ اﻹﻣﺎﻡ ﻭاﻟﻤﻘﺘﺪﻱ ﻓﻲ اﻟﻔﺮﺽ ﺃﻭ اﻟﻨﻔﻞ ﺳﻮاء،
ﻗﺎﻝ ﻓﻲ اﻟﺤﻠﻴﺔ: ﺃﻣﺎ اﻹﻣﺎﻡ ﻓﻲ اﻟﻔﺮاﺋﺾ ﻓﻠﻤﺎ ﺫﻛﺮﻧﺎ ﻣﻦ ﺃﻧﻪ – ﺻﻠﻰ اﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ – ﻟﻢ ﻳﻔﻌﻠﻪ ﻓﻴﻬﺎ، ﻭﻛﺬا اﻷﺋﻤﺔ ﻣﻦ ﺑﻌﺪﻩ ﺇﻟﻰ ﻳﻮﻣﻨﺎ ﻫﺬا، ﻓﻜﺎﻥ ﻣﻦ اﻟﻤﺤﺪﺛﺎﺕ ﻭﻷﻧﻪ ﺗﺜﻘﻴﻞ ﻋﻠﻰ اﻟﻘﻮﻡ ﻓﻴﻜﺮﻩ. ﻭﺃﻣﺎ ﻓﻲ اﻟﺘﻄﻮﻉ ﻓﺈﻥ ﻛﺎﻥ ﻓﻲ اﻟﺘﺮاﻭﻳﺢ ﻓﻜﺬﻟﻚ؛ ﻭﺇﻥ ﻛﺎﻥ ﻓﻲ ﻏﻴﺮﻫﺎ ﻣﻦ ﻧﻮاﻓﻞ اﻟﻠﻴﻞ اﻟﺘﻲ اﻗﺘﺪﻯ ﺑﻪ ﻓﻴﻬﺎ ﻭاﺣﺪ ﺃﻭ اﺛﻨﺎﻥ ﻓﻼ ﻳﺘﻢ ﺗﺮﺟﻴﺢ اﻟﺘﺮﻙ ﻋﻠﻰ اﻟﻔﻌﻞ، ﻟﻤﺎ ﺭﻭﻳﻨﺎ: ﺃﻱ ﻣﻦ ﺣﺪﻳﺚ ﺣﺬﻳﻔﺔ اﻟﺴﺎﺑﻖ، اﻟﻠﻬﻢ ﺇﻻ ﺇﺫا ﻛﺎﻥ ﻓﻲ ﺫﻟﻚ ﺗﺜﻘﻴﻞ ﻋﻠﻰ اﻟﻤﻘﺘﺪﻱ، ﻭﻓﻴﻪ ﺗﺄﻣﻞ. ﻭﺃﻣﺎ اﻟﻤﺄﻣﻮﻡ ﻓﻸﻥ ﻭﻇﻴﻔﺘﻪ اﻻﺳﺘﻤﺎﻉ ﻭاﻹﻧﺼﺎﺕ ﻓﻼ ﻳﺸﺘﻐﻞ ﺑﻤﺎ ﻳﺨﻠﻪ، ﻟﻜﻦ ﻗﺪ ﻳﻘﺎﻝ: ﺇﻧﻤﺎ ﻳﺘﻢ ﺫﻟﻚ ﻓﻲ اﻟﻤﻘﺘﺪﻱ ﻓﻲ اﻟﻔﺮاﺋﺾ ﻭاﻟﺘﺮاﻭﻳﺢ؛ ﺃﻣﺎ اﻟﻤﻘﺘﺪﻱ ﻓﻲ اﻟﻨﺎﻓﻠﺔ اﻟﻤﺬﻛﻮﺭﺓ ﺇﺫا ﻛﺎﻥ ﺇﻣﺎﻣﻪ ﻳﻔﻌﻠﻪ ﻓﻼ ﻟﻌﺪﻡ اﻹﺧﻼﻝ ﺑﻤﺎ ﺫﻛﺮ، ﻓﻠﻴﺤﻤﻞ ﻋﻠﻰ ﻣﺎ ﻋﺪا ﻫﺬﻩ اﻟﺤﺎﻟﺔ. اﻩـ.
