Question:
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Respected Mufti saab,
If one intends to make something for charity and it does not sell out, can it be given as a gift ?
Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
We understand that you are making something for charity, i.e., its proceeds will go towards charity. If it does not sell or there are somethings remaining, then you may do as you wish with it. However, if the item itself was given in charity, then you should do that which is in the best interest of the charity. If that includes gifting, then that is permissible.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
