Question:
Salaam
Is it more virtuous to go makkah or madinah first?
I have booked umrah and planned to go madinah first

However I was informed by a brother that it is more virtuous to go makkah first and cleanse oneself of sins then go for ziyarah of prophet (saw) to Madinah
I understand the wisdom but is going makkah first over madinah proven to be afdhal?

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

We were unable to find any narration suggesting one being more virtuous to visit first. Perhaps what you have mentioned above is from the preferences of some of the mashaayikh. You may act upon that if you wish or do as convenient for you.
