Assalamualaikum. If Allah has no gender, why do we use ‘He, Him, His’.
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
As Muslims, we believe that Allaah Ta’aala is free from gender. To ascribe a gender to Allaah is kufr. However, He refers to Himself as “He” in the Qur’aan. Hence, we use the pronouns He chose for Himself.
It should be noted that the pronoun “he”, when attributed to Allaah, does not refer to a masculine being. It is more of a grammatical gender. This is also from the mutashaabihaat which we are commanded to refrain from delving into their meanings.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
