Measles/cysts in meat

Fatwaa ID: 1890

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Respected Mufti sahib

Sometimes when animals are slaughtered, then one notices some measles/cysts in the meat- which are the larval stages of tapeworms.
If the meat if frozen for a certain amount of time, then the tapeworms die.
Will it be permissible to consume meat from these animals?
جزاكم الله خيرا

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

In principle, it is not permissible to consume tapeworms or any of their larval stages. They are regarded to be from the khabaaith. Accordingly, if measles or cysts are found in meat, then that portion will have to be cut off and disposed. This is applicable to such meat before and after being frozen. Such meat is harmful for one’s body and health.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
