Mentioning medications or disabilities to a suitor

Fatwaa ID: 2031

Asalamualaykum wrwb
Is it necessary to give up information on which medications a person takes and any medical history to a person they are meeting for a proposal? For example: anti anxiety medication or history of accidents that caused an unnoticeable disability

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

A marriage is built upon trust and honesty. When meeting a suitor, one should inform them of anything that would affect or make a difference in the decision making. If they were to find out about essential or important matters that were concealed later on or from others, then that may affect the bliss of the marriage. You may use the above guideline to decide about your situations.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
