Question:
السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته
If a man borrowed money or they just gave it (without intention of a loan) from his parents to support his family, does it count as giving nafakah or does it have to be from his salary instead?
The man doesn’t have a job yet, he’s a student.
Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
We do not know the context of the question. Nevertheless, the nafaqah for one’s wife does not have to be specifically from the salary of the husband. His responsibility is to provide. That obligation is fulfilled irrespective of how or where he gets the finances from.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
