Nafl shukr for specific blessing

Fatwaa ID: 290

Question:
Asalam alaykum .
I want to confirm if doing nafal shukar for a specific blessing is allowed.

If yes. Can we make shukar for a specific blessing by adding it into the nyaat before starting the nafal for example thank you for wealth , facing kaba, worshipping Allah, Allahu Akbar.
Just wanna confirm the nyaat also

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

  1. We understand that your query is in regards to performing Salaatush Shukr, or nafl salaah to express your gratitude. That is permissible. You may do this for any blessing you wish to thank Allaah Ta’aala for.
  2. The is no precedence to verbalizing the intention. Intention is an action of the mind/heart. This is for all salaahs, fardh and nafl. You should not say any of the above verbally. Simply keep in your mind that you are performing nafl salaah to express your gratitude to Allaah Ta’aala for such and such bounty.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
