Nail polish and wudhu

Fatwaa ID: 327

A salami Alaikum. If the four fardh of wudu include washing face, arms, masah, and feet, then is it permissible for a woman to put nail polish on her hands as it is not a part of the 4 sunnahs?

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

Your question is not too clear. Nevertheless, applying nail polish would prevent the validity of wudhu. Washing the hands along with the fingers and nails is part of the fardh acts of wudhu. The obligation of washing the hands extends from the fingertips until and including the elbow.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
