Question:
Asalaam alaykum, what is the ruling on name Haseeb must one call the child Abdul Haseeb? (his full name is Haseeb ur Rehman)
Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
The word Haseeb in itself means noble and of good lineage. It is a suitable name. It is not necessary to call the person ‘Abdul Haseeb. The name of Allaah Ta’aala al-Haseeb has a different meaning, the Reckoner and the Self-sufficient.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
