Name: Nadhr ibn al-Haarith

Fatwaa ID: 414

Assalamualykum mufti saab. Nazar ibn Haris was an enemy at the time of the Prophet(SAW) so shouldn’t we keep the name Haris for our Muslim kids.

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

Your supposed question, or is it a statement, is not clear not correct. Both names, Nadhr (نضر) and Haarith (حارث) are suitable names to keep. They have suitable meanings. Likewise, there are other Sahaabah with these two names. Interestingly, there is also a Sahaabi with the name Nadhr ibn al-Haarith.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
