Question:
السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته
What is the ruling on listening to nasheeds with music on it? And the nasheeds that recreate western songs?
Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
- It is not permissible to listen to “nasheeds” with music. Simply attributing something to Islam does not make it permissible.
- Nasheeds that are recreated from haraam songs must be avoided, irrespective of whether the recreated version contains music or not. When one listens to them, they are encouraging the “artists” to listen to the haraam music repeatedly and thereafter create a version. This is assisting and encouraging others on sin. That is impermissible. Furthermore, the desire to listen to such cringey things stems from the love of the haraam original. One should steer far from such.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
