New wife of father

Fatwaa ID: 1732

Asalamaualaikum wrwb respected mufti,

A man who has a son beyond the age of Rida’ah gets married to a women, would this son (from his previous marriage) be a mahram for his new wife?

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

In principle, the wife of a person’s biological father is his mahram. The son in question will be a mahram to his stepmother. However, modesty must be maintained in all conditions.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
