Posting pictures online and the perpetual punishment

Forwarded Message :

Asalamualaikum Sister. I have a question. This will sound a bit confusing, but I saw this video and it said that if a girl posts pictures of herself on the internet for everyone to see, and she passes away, apparently she will burn until the day of judgment, is that true?

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

In principle, if a person, male or female, posts or shares something impermissible or sinful online, then he/she will be sinful. Likewise, he/she will be sinful every time someone else sees it. This will remain the condition as long as the picture or post exists. This is a form of perpetual sin. It is thus necessary for a person to be cautious regarding what he/she shares online. He/she will be asked about each and every post on the Day of Judgment. A few likes and some clout is not worth the punishment and the wrath of Allaah Ta’aala. One should share something good, beneficial and permissible. He/she will surely reap the rewards of that.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
