Praying sunnah in the masjid

Fatwaa ID: 1105

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Should a person seek to pray his sunnah somewhere more private in the masjid when he can not pray them at home, or does it make no difference in terms of the reward one would get and it is the same wherever he prays it/however many people see him?

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

The sunnah salaahs should ideally be performed at home. If he prays them in the masjid, then there is no sin on him. When praying them in the masjid, he may pray them wherever he wishes. The is no need to hide from people.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
