PURCHASING A PROPERTY NEXT TO THE HINDU CREMITORIUM

Fatwaa ID: 016

Question:

Asalam walekum,

I have a question related to buying an apartment in Pune, India

– The apartment I have chosen has a masjid infront of the main entrance and the main niyat for me choosing this location is to offer salary in jamaat and enroll child for Arabic class. In Pune due to traffic, distance, time needed it becomes very difficult if masjid is not nearby.

– There is a Hindu crematorium next to the compound wall of the property  and is around 200 mtrs away from the apartment..

– Spoke to the builder and he informs that it is not very active and most people using electric form for cremations and this is used only when some old landlord/ similar person dies and last rights are performed there.

– I am confused to buy the apartment now or not as getting a place close to masjid at a reasonable price and close to school, work is very difficult.

Pls guide me.

Answer:

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

Brother in Islaam,

Your desire to purchase an apartment next to a masjid and thereby perform salaah in congregation and enroll your children there for Arabic classes is praiseworthy. We make du’aa Allaah Ta’aala grants you steadfastness on Deen. We make du’aa that He keeps your children on the straight path. Aaameen.

It is permissible to purchase a house next to a Hindu crematorium.

And Allaah Ta’aala Knows Best.
