Would shopping from companies that are known to do wrong such as force their workers to do extra labor be of any wrong? Jazakallah Khair
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
There are two aspects: the validity of a transaction and the ethical nature of the company’s dealings. If you purchase from companies that mistreat their employees, the transaction will be valid. You will not be sinful nor accountable for the doings of the company. As for the ethical perspective, that is up to you to decide. You will seldom find a company that is perfect and that treats its employees well. We, unfortunately, do not live in an ethical environment. However, if you feel that voicing your concerns by not purchasing from a company or by boycotting their products may bring about a change, then you are at liberty to do so. It is hoped that you will be rewarded for that.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
