Question:
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
If a person has some qadha qurbani then according to the fiqh ruling they should give the value of the sheep/goat in charity
However if someone gave the money for let’s say 7 years to an organization to do the qurbani…will this be valid ?
Does the sister need to now give the value of that money again in sadaqah or will the qurbani suffice ?
Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
If qurbaani was waajib upon a person and he missed it for whatever reason, then he will have to give the equivalent value in cash to the poor and needy. It will not be sufficient to slaughter an animal once it is qadhaa. If an animal was slaughtered despite this, then the value will have to be given again.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
