Qadhaa salaah sitting on a chair

Fatwaa ID: 1118

Question:
AssalamuAlaikum,
I have many Qadha salahs to make up (due to istihaadah and not understanding fully the ruling.)
This is from when I was healthy enough to pray standing.

Now, I am 8 months pregnant and it is very difficult for me, so I use a chair to pray.
I have free time now till I deliver InshaAllah and I would like to make up as many Qadhas as I can.

Is it permissible for me to pray sitting for the qadhas that were fardh on me before? Would this count as a Qadha? Or is it obligatory for me to pray standing for the previous qadhas?

Pregnancy is just temporary. InshaAllah after delivery, I should be healthy enough to pray standing again. However, I don’t know if I will get enough free time as I have now. Due to a new baby, more responsibilities, working again, and household chores.
I have a lot of free time right now though.

Jazakallah Khair

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

May Allaah Ta’aala grant you a righteous child who will be the coolness of your eyes. Your desire to spend your time wisely is commendable. In the enquired situation where you find it difficult to perform salaah standing, you may perform your qadhaa salaahs while seated on the chair. They will be valid.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
