Questioning of a person who has been cremated

Fatwaa ID: 1923

Question:

  1. If a person is cremated how will he/she be questioned by the two angels when theres no body , hence how will he/she be resurrected ?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

The questioning after death is not restricted to the grave. The grave is often mentioned as that is the norm for most. Once a person passes away, he enters the life of Barzakh. He is then interrogated there even if his body is not available. Likewise, even if a person’s body is not present, he will still be subject to the enjoyment or the punishment of the Barzakh, which is often referred to as life in the grave.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
