Raised hands early in Witr

Fatwaa ID: 853

Question:
Selam Alejkum va rahmetullah respected scholars, I pray this message finds you well.

I was praying Witr namaz and after reciting al Fatiha in the 3rd Raka’ah I raised my hands to say Allahuakbar. I realized that I had not yet recited after al-Fatiha yet (full chapter/3 short verses/etc.) so I placed my hands down, recited the necessary amount, and then raised my hands for the takbir prior to Dua e Qunoot and completed the rest of the prayer as usual.

Since I moved both my hands unnecessarily/too early, did the prayer break, and should I re-do the prayer? Thank you!

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

We take note of the details of your query. Your salaah was valid. There is no need to repeat it.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
