Remaining in the state of wudhu all the time

Fatwaa ID: 347

I’ve heard that it’s rewarding to always stay in the state of wudhu. Is it true?

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

It is virtuous and commendable to remain in the state of wudhu all the time. It also allows one to always remain prepared and also protected. The virtues of wudhu in general are tremendous. The following Hadith alludes towards being in wudhu at all times:

“Rasulullaah (S) awoke one morning and called for Bilaal, then said: ‘O Bilaal! By what have you preceded me to Jannah? I have not entered Jannah at all, except that I heard your footsteps before me. I entered Jannah last night, and I heard your footsteps before me,………’ So Bilal said: ‘O Rasulullaah! I have never called the Adhaan except that I prayed two rak’ahs, and I never did anything that invalidates the wudhu except that I performed wudhu upon that, and I considered that I owed Allaah two rak’ahs.’ So Rasulullaah (S) said: ‘It is for these two.'” [Tirmidhi 3689]

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
