Question:
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Hope all is well.
Would like to know if someone’s mum passed away as a non Muslim, is there anything (charity on her behalf etc) she may do for her to perhaps lessen the punishment?
JazākAllah
Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
May Allaah Ta’aala grant comfort and solace to the bereaved family. If a non-Muslim passes away, there is nothing that can be done to lessen the punishment. Aside from it being futile, it will not be permissible to make du’aa for such a person or do any form good on their behalf. May Allaah Ta’aala grant us all a good ending.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
