Sadaqatul Fitr for a fetus

Fatwaa ID: 2252

Assalamu alaykuk Mufti Sahib. If a woman is pregnant, will she have to have to fidya for the child that is inside?

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

We understand that by “fidyah” you mean “fitrah”. There is no Sadaqatul Fitr for a fetus or an unborn child.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
