Sajdah sahw for missing a sunnah

Fatwaa ID: 2101

As-salāmuʿalykum wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuh muftī sb,

I would like to confirm if the below is correct:

According to the Ḥanafī madhhab if one misses out a Sunnah act of Ṣalāh sajdah sahw is not required and Ṣalāh will be accepted but it is mustaḥab to do sajdah sahw.

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

The above is incorrect. Sajdah Sahw is only performed when one forgetfully leaves out or delays a waajib act of salaah. There is no Sajdah Sahw if one misses a sunnah act. It is not waajib nor mustahabb then.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
