السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Respected mufti saab How does a person read salah in Antarctica ..it does not get dark and theres always light …and there is no sign of the sun and we moving around Antarctica so how does one find out the salah times and the direction of the qibla??
جزاکم الله خيرا
Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
According to the authoritative position, in Antarctica or places where the movement of the sun is abnormal, one will follow the timings of the neighboring country wherein the timings are normal. Five salaahs will have to performed within a 24 hour period even though the sun is not setting or rising. As for identifying the qiblah, this may be done with a compass or an app.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
