Question:
Please find out for me

Is it fine to perform salah with just an abaya thrown over the body. No underwear or other pieces of clothing under?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

In principle, for the validity of one’s salaah, the ‘awrah must be covered fully. If the ‘awrah is covered with one piece, that will be sufficient. There is no article of clothing that is specifically necessary. Accordingly, it is permissible to perform salaah wearing an ‘abaya only. The ‘abaya should obviously be loose and modest.
