Question:
Assalamualaikum wr wb respected mufti sahib,
Is it permissible for people to say the word pig. Some refrain from using the word because the meat is haram and it is a dirty animal.

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

There is no prohibition in uttering the word “pig”. The prohibition is only in regards to its consumption and usage. Obviously, if one is calling someone a “pig”, then that is not permissible.
