Question:
Salam , I have a question to ask.
During ramadan if some is smoking around you what should you do.I have a lesson and the professor vapes throughout the lesson.I am not surevhow to approch this issue during ramadan.

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

It is unfortunate to note that we have degenerated so much that professors are smoking in class. May Allaah Ta’aala protect us from the evils around us and keep us guided on the straight path.

In principle, deliberately inhaling smoke will invalidate the fast. If one merely smells it from afar or the smoke goes into the nose involuntarily, then that will not invalidate the fast. In the enquired situation, if the professor is not at your face or immediately in front of you, it should not be a problem. However, you may consider wearing a face mask or niqaab to repel and avoid the smoke.
