Security guard at a bar

Fatwaa ID: 1669

Question:
Assalam o alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu respected Mufti Sahab
If someone works for a security company and is paid by them and the company sends them to various places, would their income be halal if the company sends them to stand in front of a bar?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

It is not permissible to work as a security guard at or in front of a bar even if a third party security company is paying you. Such a job is not conducive for a believer. Similarly, this affects the honor and dignity of a person. A Muslim must always try to maintain his honor and reputation. It will be necessary for the person in question to demand religious accommodation and ask for an alternative post.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
