Question:
Salaams, could you kindly let me know the rulings for below:

1) If a mother is fasting and a situation occurs where the mother sees her daughter naked will her fast break and be invalid?

2) While fasting is it ok to apply steroid creams around the private parts area? Or does it break the fast and be invalid?

Please do let me know ASAP.

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

1. In principle, seeing someone naked does not affect the validity of one’s fast. In the enquired situation, the fast was valid.
2. It will be permissible to apply steroid creams externally around the private part. The fast will remain valid. If any ointment is placed inside the anal cavity, then that would affect the validity of the fast.
