Selling the hide of the qurbaani animal

Fatwaa ID: 1270

Can a person tan and then sell the hide of his qurbani animal for his own benefit?
If not, can he tan it, sell it and the money be given in sadaqa?
Or is he not allowed to sell it in the first place?

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

The hide or skin of a qurbaani holds a simpler position as the meat. One should benefit from it or give it away. He should not sell it. If he sells it, then its proceeds will have to be given away in charity.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
