Shadow of Nabi ﷺ

Fatwaa ID: 680

Question:
Selam Alejkum va rahmetullah respected scholars, I pray this message finds you well. Is it true that the Messenger (salallahu alayhi wa salam) did not have a shadow?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

The authoritative and mainstream position of the Ahlus Sunnah is that Nabi ﷺ had a shadow just like every human being. This is also established from various narrations from the illustrious Sahaabah (R) making mention of his shadow. The view of no shadow is often held by the Ahlul Bid’ah who claim that Nabi (S) is created from light, which is a false allegation.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
