Shoulder to shoulder in salaah

Fatwaa ID: 1013

Respected Mufti Sahib
What is the hukm for woman standing “shoulder to shoulder” in jamaat, is it necessary for them?
Since our feet need to face the qiblah how much gap should there be?
Jazakumullahu Khairan.

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

The laws pertaining to the rows in salaah such as ensuring that they are straight and that there is no gap are applicable to both, males and females. Just like men, women in congregation will stand without gaps in between each other. As for the gap between your own feet, the jurists advise that women should keep them close to each other. Facing the toes towards the qiblah does not affect the gap.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
