Question:
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Is it permissible for ayaat to be sung within a nasheed? e.g the first ayah of Surah Kawthar in a nasheed regarding Nabi ﷺ.

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

Singing a verse of the Qur’aan like a line or verse of a nasheed or song is against the honor and respect of the Qur’aan. It also violates the laws of Tajweed and how it should be recited. The Qur’aan is not a for amusement and entertainment. Accordingly, it will not be permissible to sing a Qur’aanic verse in a nasheed.
