I heard of a hadith the shaytan sleeps in the position of lying down on stomach. If a person has a herniated disc in his or her spine and sleeping on the stomach helps with the pain. Then is it permissible for such a person to sleep in such a position without incurring a sin
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
The Shari’ah has regarded lying down on one’s stomach as an abhorrent act. It is also harmful for one’s body. Rasulullaah ﷺ advised that this is a position that Allaah Ta’aala dislikes and it is also the position of the people in Hellfire. However, if a person has a medical condition like the above, then there is no problem or reprehension. He may sleep in the manner that he is comfortable in.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
