Sleeping while sitting in the car

Fatwaa ID: 654

Question:
Assalamu alaikum If you nap you while you sat in cat does it break your wudhu

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

In principle, if one sleeps while sitting in such a manner that his buttocks are firmly placed and that if that which he is reclining on was to be removed he would not fall back, then his wudhu would not be nullified. If this is not the case, then his wudhu would break. In regards to sitting in a car, this would depend on how he is sitting. If he is in the upright position, then his wudhu would not break. If he is reclining back, then that may break his wudhu.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
