Question:
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله و بركاته

Would it be impermissible to spoils family or loved ones on days such as Valentine’s Day

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

As Muslims, we are sensitive to our beliefs, values and principles. Celebrating or commemorating Valentine’s Day is not permissible. Likewise, doing anything for that or related to that is also impermissible. We are people of divine principles and values. Why should we follow the non-Muslims in their ways, even if we change it slightly? We ought to remind ourselves continuously of this. Our environment often pushes to go with the flow or do something similar. We do not need that. We are unique and different. Spoil your family and loved ones at other times.
