Question:
Assalamualaykum mufti sahib. A sister is asking this query. She has a daughter from her first husband who passed away and she married again to her husband ‘s real brother( who had a son from his first wife) now this sister wants to know that if her second husband ‘s son is mahram to her daughter or not? Jazakillahu khairan
Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
We take note of the details of your query. The two children in question, aside from being cousins, are stepsiblings. They do not share a single parent. Thus, they are non-mahrams to each other. Hijaab and inter-gender interaction rules will be fully applicable between them. The parents must diligently ensure that these laws are maintained.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
