Fatwaa ID: 1656

Assalamualaikum w.w

Between the ages of 15 to 22 yrs i have employed at various stores and ate foods from the stores without my bosses knowledge for a very long time and once stole some money i feel very disturbed and have asked Allah swt to forgive me i dont have the courqge to face my bosses and apologise and ask for forgivness for what i did i have tried to give them back their money indirectly by giving them some gifts back i dont know what to do May Allah swt forgivr me .

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

It is pleasing to note your remorse your previous actions. May Allaah Ta’aala overlook your shortcomings and keep you steadfast upon the Deen.

It is sufficient for you to return the money and the value of the stolen food as cash gifts. Buying other items and giving them as gifts will not be sufficient. When giving them the cash gifts, you may call it a gift. You do not need to mention anything else. You may also send it anonymously or through someone else. May Allaah Ta’aala bless you and make it easy for you.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
