Question:
Assalaam o alikum warahmatulahi wabarakatu.
When working out qadha prayers to make due to not having know alot about islam in those first few months/years.
Do you subtract the haidh days and the 40 days after giving birth? Or should I just make up as much as to be sure to cover all valid days for missing salaat.
Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
In principle, there is no salaah on a woman when she is on her haydh or nifaas. Likewise, there is no qadhaa of those salaahs afterwards. Accordingly, when calculating the outstanding salaahs that one has missed, those days will be excluded. It should be noted that any extra that performs will be counted as nafl.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
