Question:
Assalamualikum, is there a sunnat way to apply oil to the hair?
When applying oil to the hair I have heard that you should start from the right then left eyebrow and recite sirat ul mustaqeem. I wanted to know if there is a proper way and procedure for applying oil to the hair as I do know that it is sunnat.

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

It is from the sunnah of Nabi (S) to apply oil to one’s hair. When doing so, one should start with the right side if convenient.
As for what you have stated in your query, that is baseless. The eyebrows are not part of the hair. If one wishes to oil them, that is permissible. However, saying “sirat ul mustaqeem” when doing so is baseless.
