Sunnah salaahs while musaafir

Fatwaa ID: 1642

Question:
As-salamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullahi wa-barakatuh, Mufti Sahab.

Should we perform the other Sunnahs as well (besides of course the Sunnah of Fajr) even as a Musafir and not just restrict ourselves to the exact hukum of Qasr?

I just perform the Qasr Salaah as a Musafir which includes the following:

Fajr- 2 Rakat Sunnah &
2 Rakat Fard.
Zuhr- 2 Rakat Fard.
Asr- 2 Rakat Fard.
Maghrib- 3 Rakat Fard.
Esha- 2 Rakat Fard &
3 Rakat Witr.

Am I doing this right? Please help.

Barak Allahu feek wa jazak Allahu khairan katheeran wa ahsanul jaza.

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

While the emphasis on most sunnah prayers are somewhat relaxed during travels for purposes of ease, there is nothing in wrong in praying them. Rather, one should try his best to perform all the sunnah prayers, especially if it is easy for him. The more he performs, the better it is for him.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
