Taking medication in Ramadhan to induce menstruation

Fatwaa ID: 777

Question:
Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatulaahe wa barakaatuhu

If a female has to take medication each month to get her menstruation, is it mandatory for her to not take it for the month of Ramadan?

Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

The sister in reference should consult her physician and see if there will be any harm if she does not take the medication for that month. If there is no harm, then it will be better for her not to take it so that she may exert herself even more during the blessed days.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
