Question:
Asalamualaykum wrwb Mufti Sahab, a few questions:
- Is it ok for boys to wear a brown wooden needed tasbih on their wrist that looks like a bracelet?
- Is accusing someone of something that’s not true worse than backbiting in terms of sin/punishment according to Hadith?
Answer:
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
- No. It is not permissible for men to wear any form of bracelets or necklaces. Just because it is a tasbeeh being used as a bracelet or necklace, it does not make it permissible.
- Backbiting is haraam. Likewise, accusing someone of something untrue or slandering him is haraam. Both are major sins and must be avoided. They break and destroy communities and societies.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
