Assalamu alaykum Mufti Sahib.
A sister has allergic reactions on her arms, she has mentioned that by doing ablution it effects her skin, can she perform tayyammum even if she is still able to wudhu and skin allows but there is a fear of her skin being little worse.
- If tayyammum is permissible, will she need to perform tayyammum for every Salah be after time has entered?
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
- May Allaah Ta’aala make it easy for her and grant her shifaa.
If it is confirmed that water coming in contact with her arms will cause irritation and/or reactions to her arms, then she will be excused from washing her arms. Instead, should make masah over them, if possible. In not, then she may leave them out during wudhu. Tayammum would do not be permissible in this case as long as she is able to wash the other body parts of wudhu.
If the reactions are not confirmed but a mere possibility, then she must wash them. She may not suffice on mas’h.
She should seek appropriate medical treatment.
- Just like wudhu, tayammum is valid until an invalidator comes about. It does not have to be repeated for every salaah.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
