Tikka and jhoomar jewelry

Fatwaa ID: 2321

Asalamualaikum .

Are tikka and jhoomar jewellery pieces permissible for women to wear? (Not the bindi dot that Hindus wear)

Tikka is the jewellery worn in the middle of their head and jhoomar on the side of their head.

Jazakumullahu khairan

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

It is permissible for a woman to wear tikka and jhoomar jewelry pieces provided that the design on them do not contain any Hindu or unIslamic symbols and/or connotations. Likewise, there may not be any beliefs or meanings attached to them. They must be worn solely for beautification purposes. It goes without being said that the laws of hijaab must be maintained when wearing them.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best.
